Monthly Newsletter
October 2025

No tricks, just treats — October is here at Language Essentials! Check out another fun-filled newsletter with news and updates about our company, our services, and our team. We hope you enjoy this edition of the newsletter and that it helps you stay up-to-date with everything going on in the Language Essentials Community!

Thank You for being a Friend!

October is here, bringing festive decorations, and plenty of spooktacular fun! This season is full of opportunities for growth—whether it’s building social skills at a Halloween party, practicing speech sounds with silly costumes and stories, or using OT strategies to navigate the excitement of trick-or-treating. At Language Essentials, we’re here to support your family every step of the way, helping your child build confidence, communication, and independence. 🎃

Welcome to the Team!

Hello Esteban!

We'd like to formally welcome Esteban to the Language Essentials Team!

Esteban is a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) with over 10 years of experience across a wide range of settings, including public schools, private practices, medical settings, and skilled nursing facilities. With such a varied background, Esteban’s clients are just as diverse—ranging from children as young as 2 years old to adults in their 90s.

Though he doesn’t consider himself bilingual, Esteban takes pride in working with multilingual families and ensuring they feel included and supported throughout the therapy journey. He has experience working with Spanish, Urdu, Russian, and Hebrew-speaking clients and their families.

He takes his work seriously, but doesn't take himself too seriously. Esteban enjoys being creative both in his work and in his personal time—whether designing and mastering his sewing skills, learning something new, or working out to strengthen his body and decompress his mind. At heart, Esteban is a big kid who loves to play, laugh, and experience life!

Esteban will be working in all three of our locations. Be sure to welcome him if you see him in the office!

We’re so glad to have you, Esteban! We look forward to what exciting new things you will bring to the LE Community!

Pro Tips & Talking Tricks

Play

Witch & Wizard Sensory Slime

 SUPPLIES
1/2 cup clear glue
1/2 cup water  Glitter
1/2 teaspoon        Baking Soda  1 tablespoon Contact Solution containing: sodium borate and/or boric acid Mixing Bowl
Measuring Cups and Spoons  Mixing Utensil  Reusable Container for storage

Slime is  great sensory tool and toy for motors kills, sensory fun, and regulation. Here's a recipe so you can custom make your own!

Steps:

1. Mix glue + water until smooth.

2. Add color + glitter; stir well.

3. Stir in baking soda for texture.

4. Add contact solution; slime will begin to form. Keep stirring until it pulls from sides of your mixing bowl.

5. Knead with hands. If still sticky, add small amounts of contact solution.

6. Once stretchy and not overly sticky, you're done! Store in a sealed container.

🎃 Halloween Tips 🦇:

Practice social scripts before trick-or-treating: Role-play saying “Trick or Treat!” and “Thank you!” so kids feel confident.

Costume Prep: Some kids with sensory sensitivities may struggle with scratchy fabrics, masks, or face paint. Test costumes ahead of time and use seamless underlayers for comfort.

Candy Sorting as a Skill Builder: After trick-or-treating, sort candy by color, type, or size—great for language, categorization, and fine motor practice. This is also a great practice to build to make sure there are no allergy concerns in your candy bag.

Know their limits: If crowds, noises, or flashing lights are overwhelming, plan a shorter route or create a special at-home Halloween tradition.
