Summer is winding down already, can you believe it? Check out another fun-filled newsletter with news and updates about our company, our services, and our team. We hope you enjoy this edition of the newsletter and that it helps you stay up-to-date with everything going on in the Language Essentials Community!

Thank You for being a Friend!

This month, we’re celebrating all the imagination, creativity, and progress happening in the LE Community! From Summer Camp to our brand-new Tiny Town at the San Ramon office.

The Town has lots to offer! Whether your child is “shopping” at the grocery store, “caring” for animals at the vet clinic, or cooking up fun in the diner, The Town is designed to help little ones play, connect, and grow. In this month’s newsletter, we’re excited to showcase this vibrant new space, share how it supports your child’s speech and social development, and invite you to join us in all the pretend play adventures The Town has to offer!

Summer Camp 2025

We had an absolute blast at our very first Language Essentials' Summer Camp! From crafting bird feeders and sun catchers to story time, sensory games, and our imaginative jungle walk adventure—each day was filled with creativity, connection, and lots of smiles. Campers explored motor skills through movement games, let their imaginations soar with bubbles and pretend play, and built confidence through arts & crafts and hands-on activities. Specialized camps like ours offer more than just fun—they help kids build social-emotional skills, foster communication, and support developmental goals in a playful, engaging environment. We’re so grateful you joined us for this unforgettable week and can’t wait to offer even more camp magic in the future. Thank you for being part of it!

The Fun Doesn’t Have to Stop—Even as School Starts!

With the back-to-school season in full swing, it can be tempting to pause therapy or adjust schedules—but staying consistent is one of the most important things you can do for your child’s progress. Research shows that breaks in therapy can lead to a loss of skills and slower overall growth. At Language Essentials, we see firsthand how much our clients thrive with steady, ongoing support. Our sessions are thoughtfully designed to build your child’s strength, celebrate their wins, and keep the momentum going—no matter what the school calendar says. Continuing therapy during the school year means we can reinforce vital tools and resources to support their confidence, and help them shine in every setting. Your child’s journey is important to us, and we’re honored to be part of it every step of the way.

Pro Tips & Talking Tricks

WELCOME TO THE TOWN!

We have some exciting news for the Language Essentials community in our San Ramon location: a long time coming, “The Town” is officially open!

The Town is our imaginative play space where our kiddos can step into a town of their own and build communication and engagement skills through imaginative pretend play! The Town is a realistic, child-sized space that sparks imagination with our very own grocery store, veterinary clinic, diner, and even a “park” area for your child to play and explore.

Pretend play — also called symbolic or dramatic play — is more than make believe (though that, too, is important for your child's development). Studies have shown this type of play is vital to developmental stages including language development, problem-solving, and social and emotional growth. In LE’s The Town, children can naturally use and expand:

• Expressive Language: making requests, naming objects, describing actions.
• Social-Pragmatic Skills: taking turns, greeting others, negotiating roles & play.
• Sequencing Abilities: organizing events in a logical story sequence, which supports comprehension and literacy skills.

With therapist-guided (and occasional peer-to-peer) play, your children can experiment and use their imagination with their therapist friends to build perspective-taking skills through immersive pretend play — aiding emotional regulation, interpersonal connection, and strengthening their functional communication.

Our Town brings these benefits to life by offering a realistic, child-friendly environment where kids can explore everyday roles in spaces like a grocery store (complete with realistic pretend food to shop and sell), a veterinary clinic (where they can care for our plush animal friends), or our very own diner (where they can make or eat whatever their imagination serves up that day). These settings encourage them to use language and social skills through pretend play — skills they can take beyond therapy — all in a safe, supportive space where it’s okay to make mistakes, try again, and most importantly, have fun.

Our therapists are there every step of the way, modeling language, prompting conversation, and gently guiding play so each child can meet their goals while having fun. The child’s creativity leads the way — and their confidence grows with each visit.

Language Essentials is so excited to offer the new experience of working in The Town at our San Ramon location. If you’d like to learn more, we invite you to ask your therapist about sessions in The Town, how it may help your child, or to take a tour of what The Town has to offer.

At Language Essentials, little adventures lead to big progress.

Let's get Social!

Ribbon Cutting for The Town!
Our San Ramon team came together for a quick but special ribbon cutting to celebrate The Town! It’s always such a joy when we get to laugh, play, and make memories as a team, and this was no exception. We’re all so excited to see The Town in action and know it’s going to be such a fun and beneficial space for all of our clients to grow, learn, and imagine. Here’s to many great moments ahead! We have to give a special shoutout to Jim for all his hard work! We couldn't have the town without you! 🎉

PET OF THE MONTH

We love a good pet friend or cherished family companion—so here at Language Essentials, we wanted to show off and celebrate the special animals in our lives. If they’re covered in fur, have fins, scales or feathers, we love them dearly all the same.

Meet The Animals of The Town– Our Stars of the Month! 🐾

We love sharing our adorable Pet of the Month with you — but this month, it’s all about The Town! In LE’s Town, we even have our very own veterinary clinic where kids can play pretend, care for stuffed animal patients, and practice their communication and social skills while “treating” furry friends. Here are just a few of the cute animals you can find waiting for your care in our LE Veterinary Clinic.
Aren’t they precious?

Come meet our new animal friends in The Town! 💕
